Project 3

Post by rhack »

Hey class, I have a problem with my buttons on my home page. They are not placing next to each other when I bring them into Dreamweaver, but they are stacking on top of each other, I have tried to mess with margins, padding, and positioning, but can't seem to make it work. Here is what I am talking about:

Try a negative number for the margin top. :)

Try doing float:left on all three in your stylesheet. That should put 'em next to each other.

Check out the tutorials below.

If the float doesn't work, please post your code. Otherwise, we'll just be guessing in the dark. ;)

Depending on if you have Dreamweaver or Fetch there are two ways to access the server. Guides for each can be found on the front page of GRC 175. The Dreamweaver one can be found here ( http://grc175.com/images/pdf/ftp_info_175.pdf ) and the Fetch one can be found here ( http://grc175.com/images/pdf/ftp_info_175_fetch.pdf ).

Once you get access to the server, go to your student folder. Typically you have to go through a series of folders in roughly this order "public_htmll > grc175.com > student > fall 2011 > ryan_hackbarth". When you get there, create a folder inside named "project3" and put all of your Project 3 files in it, except your "working_graphics" folder.

To access those files you put up go to http://www.grc175.com/student/fall_2011 ... /project3/ and you'll see your files. Make sure your home page is named index or you won't see anything and have to manually hunt around for your files.

Hope that helps!

Very good start, Ryan. Great use of the background image and semi-transparent bar behind the navigation. A good fun font and well placed title and navigation.

A couple quick suggestions. I'd make the background color a black or dark gray to accentuate the background image. Left align your type and lighten the image behind it to make the type a little more legible. And change out the blue on your visited links to the cream or maybe a yellow. Other than that, it's a good clean design that is much improved by the background image and semi-transparency.
