Your second design is SPOT on. I like how you simplified their logo. The gold color brings a feeling quality and site feels expansive. Great background image. I might make the alpha gold box larger, have it start higher up on the page. Really good stuff.

Great work I really like both designs. But i think I love your second one better, I like the color, the pictures and the navigation. I just think I will like to see the whole plane better. But I think the way it is is great too. It is hard to decide
