Okay, given the input that has been offered, I have it changed to this. http://www.grc175.com/student/fall_2011 ... project_2/
Now I need to know about the light tan background. Should 1) that be around the outside of the page like it is now, or 2) should the white and tan trade places? Or 3) should I do white for the page AND the outside of the page (which I tried and it looks dull so if I do that I'll have to frame the page.)

Oooh, nice and clean! I like the blog-style layout. Good margins throughout and and a nice easy to read and process interface. It's just a little plain though. I would introduce a little contrast into it, perhaps in the top and/or bottom bars and maybe run a light texture in the background or drop shadow on the content area.
